Routing in IPv6

advanced level

The course provides expert-level knowledge in design and deployment of IPv6 routing solutions. Focus is placed on OSPF and BGP protocol characteristics, functionalities and deployment strategies applicable to modern communications systems, followed by a comprehensive practical and hands-on course part focusing on OSPFv3 design and deployment scenarios and BGP peering implementations.

    • Metrics, administrative distance
    • Routing algorithms features (Distance vector, Link-state)
  • OSPFv2 and OSPFv3
    • Features, concepts of operation: area, packet types – LSA, interface types
    • OSPFv2 and OSPFv3 (comparison)
    • Use of OSPFv3
  • BGP
    • Features and concepts
    • BGP extensions for IPv6, address family
    • Use of BGP

Practical part:

  • Design and deployment of OSPFv3
    • Address planning, OSPF router-id, area
    • ABR router configuration, internal, backbone
    • Troubleshooting
  • Design and deployment of BGP peering
    • Address planning, IPv6 router-id, loopback
    • Configuration of router-id, multiprotocol peer, route map, prefix list
    • Troubleshooting
